Only original and *unpublished designs will be accepted. Using other people’s concepts is not allowed.

CATEGORIES

There are two categories – 2D and 3D. Try hard to create original and good-looking MONSTER or a MONSTER SLAYER. It can be knight, mecha, swamp creature, dyno, alien-rhyno… anything goes, any 2D/3D style goes as well!

2D

MONSTER (or) MONSTER SLAYER

You have to submit detailed vision of your character. We’re looking for a character design so it doesn’t matter if you paint environment around it. It won’t do any harm if you do. Make your character look good. Choose the theme that fits you best. Your design must be original work of art. You are not allowed to use other artist’s work as a reference for your design or you might be disqualified. Any 2D technique, digital or traditional, is acceptable, even photobashing and adding 3D elements. As long as it’s – ALL YOURS.

3D

MONSTER (or) MONSTER SLAYER

You will have to submit textured low-poly model with less than 20000 tris. You will need to provide direct link to your 3D model, Marmoset Viewer at your ArtStation portfolio or the link to model’s Sketchfab page. Either is fine. You must also submit 2D render/beauty shot of your design, for which you can use high-poly mesh. Your design must be original work of art. You are not allowed to use other artist’s work as a reference for your design. Otherwise you will be disqualified. Texture your model and pay attention to topology.

Art Order

ArtOrder proudly supports The Game Workshop and the IFCC in their sponsorship of The Game Challenge. Of course, ArtOrder is also a huge support of the artists in our industry. As such, ArtOrder is donating it’s services and expertise to the winners of The Game Challenge, to help them create a project that they can take to KickStarter for funding of printing/manufacturing costs. ArtOrder will donate all of it’s time and resources to help the artist secure a printer or manufacturer for their project. It will negotiate to get the best pricing available for the creation of their project. It will provide consultation and access to expertise for both the development of their project, the creation of the KickStarter, and will help with marketing and promotion related to the launch of their project. The artist will be response for all actual costs related to production and shipping of their project. ArtOrder will not add any fees or up-charges to the project.

Learn Squared

Learn Squared changed the way we learn CG, period. Lynette Clee

Lynette Clee works at Gnomon – School of Visual Effects, Games + Animation in Hollywood, California. There, she oversees Gnomon’s marketing efforts, working closely with industry artists, studios, and alumni to create a variety of content for the school’s online presence. Lynette is responsible for producing Gnomon’s free community events and gallery shows. Having worked in the 3D industry since 2006, Lynette has edited and published over 20 books for 3dtotal.com, each dedicated to celebrating the brightest talents in the CG community. She was News Editor and Acting Editor of 3D Artist magazine between 2010 and 2013, during which time she worked with some of the biggest names in the art world and created a host of high-quality, engaging, and creative content to help establish the title as the UK’s leading magazine for 3D artists. Lynette was also Studio Manager and Editor of www.3dtotal.com, one of the industry’s biggest portals for 3D artists. Lynette holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from Arts University Bournemouth.
